ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure University matched a school record spanning the past two decades for Graduation Success Rate (GSR) as the NCAA released the 2019 annual GSR reports for all NCAA Division I institutions.
St. Bonaventure produced a four-year average GSR of 93 percent, equaling a total the University has achieved three times in the past four years. The NCAA also released its overall Division I national averages: the four-year GSR for all member schools is 88 percent.
Eight of St. Bonaventure's varsity athletic programs achieved a perfect 100 percent four-year graduation success rate in the latest report:
- Men's Basketball
- Men's Cross Country / Track
- Women's Cross Country / Track
- Men's Soccer
- Women's Soccer
- Women's Tennis
- Women's Lacrosse
In addition, softball produced a 94 percent GSR and women's basketball was at 92 percent.
"We're very proud of the work and accomplishments of our student-athletes and their commitment to being excellent not only in their sport but in the classroom as well," St. Bonaventure Director of Athletics Tim Kenney said. "This data further confirms that our coaches are doing a tremendous job of continuing to recruit individuals who are committed to living up to the true definition of being successful student-athletes."
The GSR measures graduation over six years from first-time college enrollment. The NCAA Division I Board of Directors created the GSR in response to Division I college and university presidents who wanted data that more accurately reflected the mobility of college students than the federal graduation rate.
