Clingan Named Associate Athletics Director for Compliance

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure Director of Athletics Tim Kenney has announced the hiring of Ryan Clingan as Associate Athletics Director for Compliance. Clingan joins St. Bonaventure after working the previous six years at the University of Maryland.

"We are extremely excited to have Ryan come on board as part of our senior leadership team in Athletics. His experience and knowledge working with a Power Five program will be a huge asset for the department moving forward," Kenney said. "We welcome Ryan and his family to the St. Bonaventure community."

Clingan, a native of Emporium, Pa., joined the staff at Maryland as in August 2012 as a compliance assistant and was promoted to Assistant Director of Compliance the following year. He served in that position until August 2015 when he was again promoted to Director of Compliance, a role he has served in for the past three years.

At Maryland, Clingan oversaw all aspects of the Terrapins' compliance efforts for women's basketball, men's and women's lacrosse, baseball, women's soccer and men's and women's track and field. In addition, Clingan had hands on experience working with all of Maryland's athletics programs, conducting rules education with coaches, serving as a University contact with the NCAA and Big Ten as well as being the program's primary contact for all matters pertaining to initial and transfer eligibility.

Clingan previously worked as a graduate assistant in compliance at East Carolina after receiving his undergraduate degree from Point Park University in Pittsburgh. He earned his Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration from Florida State University.

While at Maryland, he was twice recognized by the athletic department as a "Terp Award" recipient for outstanding job performance.

"As someone that grew up not far from St. Bonaventure, I am ecstatic for the opportunity to continue my career upholding the values and traditions of such a prestigious athletics department," Clingan said.  "I want to thank Tim Kenney, Barb Questa, and the whole community for welcoming my family to the area."
