The GoBonnies.com Male Athlete of the Week presented by CPL for the week ending Nov. 17 is men's cross country senior William Delaney.
Delaney finished his cross country career in the same way he has performed for much of the past four years – in record-setting fashion as he set a new program best Friday afternoon at Northeast Regionals.
The four-year member of the Bonnies running program ran the 10K layout hosted by the University at Buffalo in a time of 33:09.7, easily eclipsing the previous Bona record. Joe Ferencik had held the record for five years at 33:40.
Delaney's previous 10K best was 35:21 which had stood seventh on the individual Bonaventure times list prior to Friday.
With his effort in the season finale, Delaney now owns every St. Bonaventure men's cross country record. He's also top of the board in 5K (15:53 at last year's Little Three Championship) and 8K (25:36.6 at last month's Louisville Classic).
