The GoBonnies.com Male Athlete of the Week presented by the U.S. Marines for the week ending April 7 is men’s lacrosse freshman Nick Conklin.
It was a week to remember last week for Conklin as he continued what has been a tremendous rookie season. Last Tuesday against Monmouth, he set the program records for ground balls (7) and caused turnovers (5) and followed that up with his first two career assists along with five more ground balls and two caused turnovers Saturday at Cleveland State, also going 2-for-2 in the faceoff X. For the year, Conklin is the MAAC leader in caused turnovers per game (2.0 CT/gm) and ranks 14th in the nation.
Among freshmen, only Peter Rizzotti of Dartmouth (2.11 CT/gm) has more caused turnovers per game in Division I while Conklin is tied with fellow freshmen Eric Flynn of UMass-Lowell and Chris Conlin of Holy Cross.
