ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure cross country team returns to action Saturday at Beaver Island State Park in Grand Island, N.Y. for the UB Stampede Invitational.
The meet begins at noon with the women's event, while the men start at 12:45 p.m. The Bonnies are expected to join host Buffalo, Rochester, Niagara and Geneseo among competitors at the event.
Nine of the team's top 10 runners at the Mount St. Mary's 5K Duals on Sept. 2 – amassing both the men's and women's squad – were freshmen, with senior Catie Greene being the lone exception.
Nick Masiello led the men with a time of 16:18.91, good enough to place 42nd overall at the meet in Emmitsburg, Md. Harley Thompson (16:37.97, 57th), Steve Kibbe (16:49.38, 60th), Nick Taylor (17:45.52, 74th) and Dan Myers (18:07.84, 75th) rounded out the top five for the men at the event, all of them first-year runners.
On the women's side, frosh Hannah Robinson finished 14th overall with a time of 19:27.15 to lead the Bonnies at the Mount St. Mary's 5K Duals. Fellow freshmen Emily Steves (19:45.60, 22nd), Sarah Mars (19:52.26, 24th), and Taylor Greene (20:49.66, 44th) also ranked among the Bonnies' top runners.
