ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's tennis team welcomes Temple to the SBU Fitness Center for the Bonnies' Atlantic 10 home-opening match on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Both clubs are aiming to end long losing streaks. The Bonnies (2-7) come into the competition having lost their last five matches while the Owls (1-6) have dropped four in a row.
St. Bonaventure suffered a 7-0 loss to Massachusetts on Feb. 16 at Army's Lichtenberg's Tennis Center in the Bonnies' first conference competition of the season. Temple, meanwhile, is winless in two A-10 matches, with losses to VCU and Richmond.
SBU's two victories have come at home over Robert Morris and Slippery Rock, while Temple's win was over Morgan State in a neutral site match. The Owls play at Buffalo Saturday before their match at St. Bonaventure.
The Bonnies endured a trio of losses last weekend against Army, UMass and Bucknell. Senior Kathryn Kvas scored a singles victory against Army, while sophomores Marissa Brossard and Fatya Amiri added individual triumphs against Bucknell. St. Bonaventure was winless in doubles matches.
Brossard tops the squad with a 9-7 mark in singles play. Amiri has posted a 7-9 mark and Kvas is 6-9.
Junior Jordan Batey leads Temple with a 7-3 singles record, and she has also partnered with classmate Alicia Doms for a team-best 3-3 mark in doubles competition.
After facing the Owls, the Bonnies stay home to host New Jersey Tech at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2 and IPFW at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3.
