Bonnies Drop Two at West Point

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches over the weekend versus Army and Fordham, moving their record to 3-3 on the season.

On Saturday, the women's team lost to Army, 5-2, winning one doubles and two singles matches. Manuela Marin-Salcedo and Fatya Amiri improved to 1-0 on the season with an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles, defeating Larraine Saavedra and Maya Parker. Amiri continued her strong day at No. 1 singles, earning her fifth win by knocking off Carly Riney 6-4, 6-4. After four straight losses, Andrea Pavolic earned the Brown and White a second point at No. 6 singles, defeating Savannah Stachowiak in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (5).

The women's team lost to Fordham on Sunday, losing two of three doubles matches and five of six singles matches, all in straight sets. Fordham's Amy Simidian and Angelika Dabu were trailing Amanda Pallikunnel and Marissa Brossard at first singles, 6-3, when the match was halted. The duo improved to 1-0 on the season at No. 1 doubles.

In singles play, Manuela Marin-Salcedo won in second singles over Sarah Ali, 1-6, 6-4 (10-8), for her fourth win of the season.

The women's team will return home this weekend to open for a pair of non-conference matches versus at the St. Bonaventure Indoor Tennis Center. The team faces IUPUI Feb. 24 at 4 p.m., following by a tilt with Bucknell Feb. 25 at 3 p.m.
