HANOVER, N.H. – Select members of the women's
tennis team will be taking part in the United States Tennis
Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional
Championships starting today in the Alexis Boss Tennis Center at
Dartmouth College.
Coming off its first team victory of the fall season last Sunday at
Mercyhurst, senior Maria
Barousse leads three underclassmen into this weekend's
tournament – the last competition of the fall campaign.
Barousse will partner with sophomore Kathryn
Kvas (both pictured) today at 12:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals
of doubles qualifying against the University of Connecticut's Lucy
Nutting and Lauren Wilmarth. Both duos received byes in the initial
round of 16.
In the main doubles draw – in which there are 64 teams
– junior Manuela
Marin-Salcedo and sophomore Amanda Pallikunnel await their competitors, who
have yet to advance out of the qualifying round.
Marin-Salcedo will also be the lone Bonnie participating in the
main singles draw. She is set to meet Christine Ordway from Cornell
in the round of 64.
The tournament features the top women's tennis players from
throughout the Northeast. Competition for some qualifying rounds
began yesterday, and matches are set to run through Sunday.
