NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – St. Bonaventure University women's swimming freshman Lina Kutsko has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie Performer of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday.
The Wheeling, Ill. native continued to add to her personal accolades this past weekend at the Winter Nationals and the Akron Invitational. Kutsko represented the Bonnies in Columbus at the AT&T Winter Nationals in the 100 butterfly. She qualified for the finals clocking in at 54.04. In the finals, Kutsko swam a 54.11 which was good for 12th place.
At the Zippy Invite on Saturday and Sunday, Kutsko rewrote the record books yet again. Saturday in the 100 butterfly, she finished in 53.86, topping her own record of 54.86 set on Oct. 20. She was also a member of the 200 medley relay team that set a program record, with a time of 1:43.64, to break the record of 1:43.68 that had stood at St. Bonaventure since 2011.
On the final day in Akron, the freshman eclipsed the program record in the 100 freestyle. Kutsko finished with a mark of 50.14, shattering the previous record of 51.09, a record that stood at St. Bonaventure for 19 years.
