HAMILTON, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's swimming and diving team holds the lead after the first day of competition at the season-opening Justin Jennings Memorial Invitational hosted by Colgate.

St. Bonaventure leads the way with 228.5 team points, ahead of UMass (197), Colgate (154), St. Francis (Pa.) (148), Cleveland State (126.5) and Le Moyne (35).

Leading the way for the Bonnies was the 200-yard freestyle relay team consisting of four freshmen making their Bonnies debuts. Lina Kutsko, Gerle Kerecsen, Katrina Wardner, and Casey Prentice not only won the event, but broke a pool record with a time of 1:35.09.

Another St. Bonaventure 200 free relay team of Devon McFadden, Rachel Taylor, Ava Bianchi, and Kathryn Godlewski finished third in the event with a time of 1:39.22.

"It was a fun night to start the season," said St. Bonaventure head coach Brian Thomas. "We want to learn how to compete, which means preparing our bodies to swim multiple events in one day. We had our share of strengths and weakness, but overall we had good results."

The Bonnies would sweep the top four finishing positions in the 200-yard individual medley. Kutsko won the event by ringing in a time of 2:05.75 while Kerecsen finished second with a time of 2:06.76.
