ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's swimming and diving team earned the top GPA in the Atlantic 10 and the 15th best in all Division I at 3.57 during the fall semester.
The Bonnies women's swim and dive program had 16 members of the swimming and diving team earn spots on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the fall.
"I'm tremendously proud of our accomplishments in the classroom this past fall," said St. Bonaventure head coach Brian Thomas. "Our goals are to compete at a national level both athletically and academically, and they have certainly shown what we can do in the classroom."
Thomas pointed out that this in an especially applause-worthy accomplishment given the rigorous daily schedule student-athletes face.
"I am truly in awe of what these ladies do on a daily basis," he said. "It's an unbelievable commitment. From 7:00 a.m. practice, through class all day, a second workout at 5:00 p.m. and team study hall from 8-9:30 p.m., our program is highly intensive and requires a great deal of fortitude."
Finally, Thomas praised the athletic academic support staff, starting with Assistant AD for Academic Support and Student Services Heather McDivitt, as well as the St. Bonaventure faculty.
"Everyone I encounter at St. Bonaventure goes above and beyond for the students. Heather and the world-class faculty are certainly no exceptions."
