ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. -- The St. Bonaventure University women's swimming and diving team will return to action this weekend as they welcome Cleveland State on Friday and Colgate on Saturday to the Reilly Center Pool.
Friday's action will begin at 5:00 p.m. while Saturday will begin with diving at 9:00 a.m.
Cleveland State will have their first dual meet of the season, having previously competed in the Colgate Fall Classic on Oct. 7 and 8. Last season, Cleveland State finished seventh out of eight teams at the Horizon League Championships last year with 689 points.
Colgate finished third playing host to the Fall Classic, and has had one dual meet prior to facing Bonaventure. On Oct. 15 Colgate fell to Loyola (Md.), losing 161-135 and putting them at 0-1 to start the year. Last year, Colgate ended the season by finishing in sixth place out of 10 teams at the Patriot League Championships.
The Bonnies are coming off of a 181.5 to 171.5 win over Central Connecticut last weekend. Sophomore diver Brittany Hart took both diving events, winning the one-meter with a score of 221.70 and the three-meter with 234.38. Junior Devon McFadden earned wins in the in the 100 yard backstroke (58.42), 200 yard individual medley (2:09.69) and 100 yard individual medley (59.87). Sophomore Sam Kuchinski won the 50 yard freestyle (25.03), while and junior Alyssa Levac captured the 100 yard butterfly (58.32). The meet came down to the final race, the 400 yard freestyle relay, and the team of freshmen Kathryn Godlewski and Theresa Hutton, senior Bridget Jordan and Kuchinski were able to win the race to secure the ten-point victory.
After Cleveland State and Colgate, the Bonnies will travel to the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio, for the Atlantic 10 Quad Meet. The meet will be comprised of three sessions, two on Oct. 29 starting at 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and one on Oct. 30 starting at 9:00 a.m.
