NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — St. Bonaventure senior Tanja Kirmse has been named to the 2016 Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Academic All-Conference team, which was announced on Friday.
The Academic All-Conference team is comprised of student-athletes who were selected based on their performance in the pool, as well as in the classroom. To be nominated, swimmers and divers must have a Grade Point Average of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) for their entire academic career.
Kirmse capped off her impressive career with an impressive showing at the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championships. She set a new St. Bonaventure varsity record in the 800-yd freestyle. Kirmse swam a time of 1:48.63 leading off the 800-yd freestyle relay.
Kirmse also posted three individual top eight finishes including a third place finish in the 200-yd butterfly.
A business major, Kirmse is on track to graduate in May.
