Kirmse, Malone Strong But @BonniesWSwim Falls In Tri-Meet At Spire

GENEVA, Ohio-  The women's swimming and diving team received five top finishes by freshman Tanja Kirmse and sophomore Elizabeth Malone, but the Bonnies fell to Atlantic 10 Conference opponents La Salle and Duquesne in a tri-meet on Saturday at the Spire Institute. The final scores were: Duquesne 181, La Salle 179.5, and St. Bonaventure 154.

 Kirmse grabbed her first top finish by placing first in the 200 yard freestyle, touching in with a time of 1:53.72, narrowly beating Duquesne's Meghan Smith. Later in the day, Kirmse would finish first again, this time in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 52.86. She would finish the day with another first place finish, this time in the 500 yard freestyle, registering a time of 5:02.12. Malone started the day with a third place finish in the 200 yard butterfly, touching in with a time of 2:07.36, followed by teammate Lauren Caldwell who came in at 2:11.12. Later in the day, Malone had another third place finish in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 59.39, just edging out La Salle's Julia Mann.
St. Bonaventure saw much success from their relay teams today, registering four top finishes in relay events. Their first top finish came early in the day in the 400 yard medley relay with teammates Adelyn Graf, Lauren Caldwell, McKenzie Courtney, and Tanja Kirmse touching in with a time of 4:00.91, enough for a first place finish.

Later in the meet, St. Bonaventure would finish second in the 200 yard freestyle relay with the team of Jeanette Dietrich, Taylor Anderson, Bridget Jordan, and Rachel Bull registering a time of 1:40.18, just behind A-10 opponent La Salle. Dietrich and Bridget would also lead the Bonnies to a third place finish in the 200 yard medley relay, along with teammates Mackenzie Courtney and Meghan McCann, with a time of 1:51.34. The Brown and White would finish the day with a second place finish in the 400 yard freestyle with a time of 3:36.99. The Bonnies were led by Tanja Kirmse, Jeanette Dietrich, Rachel Bull and Taylor Anderson.

The Bonnies also received top finishes from Jeanette Dietrich in the 50 yard freestyle and Lauren Caldwell in the 200 yard Individual Medley.

The Bonnies will return to the pool next week (Nov. 8) when they travel to Cleveland State.
