Bonnies take on Binghamton

BINGHAMTON, N.Y.  – The St. Bonaventure women's swimming and diving team returns to the pool this weekend to face Binghamton. 

The Bonnies hope to rally from last year's meet when they fell to Binghamton, 174-125. 

In that meet, then freshman Paige Gutowski had a big day for the Bonnies. She took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.80) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.33). She also picked up a second-place finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:12.31.

Binghamton's record is currently 1-5. They recently lost to University at Buffalo on Jan. 14, 155-85 and Colgate on Jan. 15, 180-114.

The Brown and White are coming off of a 141 to 101 defeat over Canisius on Dec. 16. Lauren Caldwell, Whitney Dougherty and Meaghan McCann took first, second and third for the Bonnies in the 200-yard IM. Caldwell finished first with a time of 2:12.16, Dougherty finished second with a time of 2:17.80 and McCann finished third with a time of 2:19.01.

Ivanna Smirnova and Jeanette Dietrich took the top two spots in both the 50-yard freestyle, with times of 53.62 and 54.03, respectively, and the 100-yard freestyle, with times of 24.95 and 25.23, respectively.    

The meet will begin at 1 p.m.
