Bonnies to Compete at Cleveland St. this Weekend
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The women's swimming and diving team returns to the pool Saturday at 1 p.m. for a tri-meet against Cleveland State and Valparaiso University.
The Bonnies hope to rally from last year's loss to Cleveland State, 144-94.
In that meet, then-freshman Paige Gutowski came in first place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:23.29. She also finished in second place in the 200-yard IM, touching in at 2:10.95.
Cleveland State is coming off of a quad-meet loss to Denison, 172-128, Ohio State, 232-66, and Virginia Tech, 232-68. Prior to meeting the Bonnies, the Vikings will face Duquesne and Youngstown State Friday, Nov. 11.
Valparaiso recently defeated Saint Mary's on Nov. 4, 137-66.
The Bonnies are coming off of a tri-meet win against Duquesne, 174-147, and a loss to La Salle, 184-149, where freshman Meaghan McCann picked up two first-place finishes. She touched in at 2:08.71 in the 200-yard backstroke and finished with a time of 1:00.16 in the 100-yard backstroke.
Sophomore Ivanna Smirnova earned a first- and second-place finish for the Brown and White. She finished first in the 100-yard butterfly and finished second in the 100-yard freestyle. She touched in with times of 58.36 and 53.47, respectively.
Following the tri-meet Saturday, the team will return to the pool on Nov. 18 when it travels to East Lansing to face Michigan State.
