Bonnies Return to the Pool For Tri-Meet

After a week off, the women's swimming and diving team returns to the pool for a tri-meet against Atlantic 10 rivals Duquesne and La Salle on Saturday.

The meet will take place at the Flickinger Aquatic Center in Buffalo, N.Y. The diving portion of the meet begins at 10:30 a.m. and the swimming will start at 3:30 p.m.

The Bonnies hope to rally from last year's tri-meet where they defeated Duquesne, 166-129, but fell to La Salle, 198-136.

In that meet, sophomore Paige Gutowski had a huge day for the Bonnies. She picked up three first-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard IM. She touched the wall with times of 1:06.15, 2:23.48 and 2:10.05, respectively.

Duquesne is coming off of a tri-meet win over St. Francis, 137.5-121.5, and a loss to Central Connecticut State University, 135-126. They will face Niagara University on Nov. 4.

La Salle recently defeated Drexel University on Oct. 22, 178-114.

The Brown and White are coming off a loss to Pittsburgh where freshman Ivanna Smirnova took first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.52. She also swam a 1:57.11 in the 200-yard freestyle and notched a 58.56 in the 100-yard butterfly, picking up her two-second place finishes.

Freshman Aly Paz also earned some points for the Bonnies coming in third in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:05.72.

The Bonnies will return to the pool on Nov. 12 when they travel to Cleveland State to face the Vikings and Valparaiso University. The meet will begin at 1:00 p.m.
