Swimming and Diving Teams Unveil 2011-12 Schedule
Complete Schedule
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — The men's and women's swimming and diving teams have announced their joint schedule for the 2011-12 season on Friday.
The men are coming off their fifth-straight second-place finish at the A-10 Championships, while the women are coming off a fourth-place finish a year ago.
The Bonnies open the 2011-12 season on Oct. 8 at the Western New York Invitational in Buffalo, N.Y.
The University of Pittsburgh will travel to the Reilly Center Pool on Oct. 22 to face the Bonnies in their home opener. Both clubs will be looking to use the home pool advantage to avenge last season's losses, as the men fell, 158-125, and the women were defeated, 179-106.
After a tri-meet Nov. 5 versus Duquesne and La Salle, the Brown and White will travel to Cleveland State to take on the Vikings and Valparaiso Nov. 12. They continue their roadtrip the following weekend when they travel to Michigan State for the first time since 2009 on Friday, Oct. 18.
St. Bonaventure will once again be a part of the Akron Invitational Dec. 2-4 in Akron, Ohio, where both teams hope to improve on last season's finishes. The men checked in with a third-place showing, while the women finished 10th.
The Bonnies return home to host Little Three rival Canisius on Dec. 16 to finish out the 2011 portion of their schedule. Last season both squads defeated the Griffs; the men winning by a score of 171-72, and the women by a margin of 163-77.
Following its annual training trip, the Brown and White will hit the road again to take on Binghamton (Jan. 21) for its first meet of 2012. The following week St. Bona travels to Niagara Jan. 28, and like they did to Canisius, both teams defeated the Purple Eagles last season. The men dominated with a 206-87 victory while the women won, 151.5-137.5.
The University at Buffalo travels to St. Bonaventure on Senior Day to close out the regular season on Feb 4.
The Bonnies will take an 18-day hiatus from meets before the A-10 Championships. For the 16th consecutive year, St. Bonaventure will host the championships at the Flickinger Athletic Center at Erie Community College in Buffalo, N.Y. Feb. 22-25.
