Women Stay in Fifth After Second Day at A-10 Championships

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure women's swimming and diving team held steady in fifth-place in the second day of competition at the 2011 Atlantic 10 Championships held in the Flickinger Center Thursday night.

The Brown and White with 112 points hold an 8-point lead over Rhode Island (108) with Richmond topping the women's board with 296 points. Fordham is in second with 220 points followed by La Salle in third with 149.5. Rounding out the women's scoring is UMass (142), George Washington (107.5), St. Louis (97), Duquesne (93) and Xavier (85).

In the 500-yard freestyle senior Morgan Ribar finished in 22nd -place with a time of 5:07.02 and classmate Natalya Ghostlaw finished in 26th -place with a time of 5:09.95.

In the 200-yard IM, freshman McKenzie Courtney finished in 27th-place with a time of 2:14.68.

In the 50-yard freestyle consolation final, freshman Jeanette Dietrich finished in 10th-with a time of 23.83. Junior Lanae Petty finished in 12th-place and sophomore Wendy Oleskiw finished in 13th-place with times of 23.97 and 23.99, respectively.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Petty, Dietrich, Oleskiw, and Erica Pascarella placed eighth with a time of 136.03.

The Brown and White will begin its third day of competition at the A-10 Championships beginning 10:30 a.m. tomorrow with the prelims followed by the finals at 6:30 p.m.
