Women's Swimming & Diving Returns To Pool Friday Afternoon

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The women's swimming and diving team returns to the Reilly Center Pool after more than a month between meets Friday afternoon at 1 against Binghamton.

The Bonnies hope to rebound after last year's 135-107 loss to the Bearcats. In that meet, Kathryne Valentine competed in the 200-yard backstroke where she notched a first-place finish with a time of 2:09.17. In the 200-yard freestyle, she touched in third place with a time of 2:00.80.

In its last meet before the winter hiatus, the Brown and White defeated Canisius, 163-77. Against the Griffs, the Bonnies picked up a total of 11 first-place finishes. Senior Natalya Ghostlaw earned three individual first-place finishes, including the 1000-yard freestyle (10:54.37), the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.58) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:18.33).

Valentine, Lanae Petty and Jeannette Dietrich all had individual first-place finishes. Valentine swam a 1:01.56 in the 100-yard backstroke while Dietrich clocked a 24.94 in the 50-yard freestyle. Petty was the sole participant in the 100-yard butterfly to break 1:00.00, swimming a 59.87.

Following Friday's meet, the team will have a quick turnaround as it travels to State College, Pa. to meet Penn State Saturday at 1 p.m.
