St. Bonaventure Returns To The Pool At Zippy Invite This Weekend
AKRON, Ohio – The St. Bonaventure women's swimming and diving team returns to the pool this weekend after a two-week hiatus to compete in the three-day Zippy Invitational in Akron, Ohio.
The Brown and White will be looking to rebound this year in the 12-team field after finishing in 10th place last season.
In that meet, then-junior Kathryne Valentine finished in 15th place in the 200-yard backstroke 'B' final with a time of 2:09.76. In the 100-yard backstroke she finished in 14th place in the 'B' final with a time of 1:00.33.
The Bonnies are coming off a 144-94 loss to Cleveland State on Nov. 13. Against the Vikings, freshman Paige Gutowski came in first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:23.29. She also finished in second place in the 200-yard IM, touching in at 2:10.95.
Valentine picked up a first-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:09.51.
The University of Akron hosts the weekend-long tournament beginning Friday at 9 a.m. and continuing through Sunday. A full schedule and more information can be found here.
