Bonnies Look To Avenge Last Season’s Loss Against Vikings
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The women's swimming and diving team opens up its 2010-11 home campaign at the Reilly Center Pool this Sturday against Cleveland State.
The Bonnies hope to rebound after falling to Vikings last year, 146-92. In that meet, Kathryne Valentine picked up a first-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:08.06.
The Brown and White are coming off split of a tri-meet last weekend against Duquesne and La Salle. They defeated Duquesne, 166-129, and fell to La Salle, 198-136.
In that meet, freshman Paige Gutowski had a huge day for the Bonnies. She picked up three first-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard IM. She touched the wall with times of 1:06.15, 2:23.48 and 2:10.05, respectively.
Freshmen Jeannette Dietrich continued to shine for the Bonnies as in the 200-yard freestyle she touched the wall first at 1:55.99. She then picked up two second-place finishes. One came in the 100-yard freestyle and the other came in the 50-yard freestyle where she came in with times of 53.55 and 24.84, respectively.
Saturday's meet will be the first of just three home meets for the teams this season. Diving will start off at 1 p.m., with the swimming portion to follow.
