Bonnies Open Season at WNY Invite

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The women's swimming and diving team returns to the pool to open the 2010-11 season Saturday at the WNY Invitational in Buffalo, N.Y.

The women open the season after a sixth-place finish at the A-10 Championships.

The Bonnies picked up victories over rival Canisius, 172-44.5, and a 133-107 defeat of foe Niagara last campaign.

While they finished the regular season with a 2-9 record, there are many promising things for this coming season. Senior Kathryne Valentine had a successful A-10 Championships, finishing eighth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.73, fifth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.25 and sixthin the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:04.26.

Also at A-10's, senior Natalya Ghostlaw finished seventh in the 500-yard freestyle.

The Bonnies welcome eight new members to the 2010-11 squad. Returning are seniors Valentine, Ghostlaw, Julie Brezinsky and Morgan Ribar, along with juniors Lanae Petty and Alycia Gossett and sophomore Erica Pascarella. 

Diving action is set to begin at 10 a.m. with the meet set to start at 3 p.m.
