Aug. 4, 2009

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure softball head coach Mike Threehouse announced the addition of Jessenia Andujar to the 2009-2010 roster. She will have four years of eligibility.

Andujar comes to the Bonnies from East Rochester High School where she earned team MVP each of her four years. She was named captain of the Bombers softball squad during her junior and senior years and made first team All-Wayne County.

"Jessenia is a great late sign for us," said Threehouse. "Her hitting ability makes her an instant threat at the plate and her ability to play different positions will allow her to help us in many different ways."

Andujar, who plans to major in physical education, finished her senior year with a .657 batting average putting up two home runs, four triples, 10 doubles and 28 base hits. She was also able to pull off an unassisted triple play.

The East Rochester, N.Y., native was the Bird's Eye Foods Player of the Year, made All-State fourth team and First Team Honorable Mention for All Greater Rochester. The multi-position player earned Bird's Eye Food Player of the Year her sophomore year as well.

During her sophomore year, she earned Wayne County's League MVP and first team All-Wayne County with a .689 average. With a strong bat she boasted two homeruns, three triples, 12 doubles, 32 runs scored and 20 stolen bases. She also picked off 13 runners off at first and third bases.

Andujar joins Hali Enderby and Danielle Frye as the 2010 freshmen class. The Bonnies lost six players to graduation.
