NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Junior Josie Borysevicz of the St. Bonaventure University softball team has been named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic team, conference officials announced Wednesday.
An education major, the Bona pitcher has accumulated a 3.928 GPA as a student-athlete at St. Bonaventure and has been a mainstay on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
"The St. Bonaventure softball program is known for its academic excellence," said head coach Mike Threehouse. "Josie's selection is just another example of that tradition, and we are proud that she represents us all on and off the field."
This season, the Ashford, Conn. native was the workhorse in the circle for the Bonnies, leading the team with 23 appearances, 21 starts, 120 innings pitched and 11 complete games. She struck out 71 batters, including a career-high eight in a win at Canisius on April 26.
Borysevicz also issued just 35 walks, which averages out to 0.291 per inning pitched and 1.5 per appearance.
In her third season with the Bonnies, she had nine starts in which she allowed two earned runs or fewer, and tossed a complete-game shutout against Fort Wayne on March 4.
