KINGSTON, R.I. -- The St. Bonaventure University softball team split a doubleheader with Rhode Island Saturday afternoon, earning a win in game two behind a three-run double from freshman McKenna Holtz.
Rylee Hehir gave the Brown and White a strong performance in the circle to earn a complete-game win in game two.
St. Bonaventure also earned a clean day defensively, as the Bonnies were not charged with a fielding error in either game.

St. Bonaventure had a chance to get on the board first as Desiree Gonzalez lined a two-out double in the top of the third. But, she was unable to score as URI coaxed Elizabeth Enovitch to pop out to third, ending the threat.
The Rams capitalized, scoring their lone two runs in the bottom half of the frame on a two-run single.
Rhode Island threatened to build its lead in the bottom of the sixth as the Rams worked back-to-back singles to start the frame, and then both runners moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt. A two-out walk later loaded the bases, but Josie Borysevicz induced a fly out to right, leaving the bases loaded.
With two down in the bottom of the seventh, Emma Borysevicz extended the game for the Bonnies as she lined a single through the left side. But, the runner was left stranded and Rhode Island held on to take the 2-0 win.
Josie Borysevicz and URI's Sarah Gunderson went the distance for their respective teams in the circle. Borysevicz struck out one while surrendering five hits. From the bottom of the third into the sixth inning, Borysevicz retired seven batters in a row.

The Rams' offense continued into game two as they picked up two runs in the first and one in the second to take an early 3-0 lead.
But, the Bonnies broke open with a big inning in the top of the third. Walks to Gonzalez and Piergustavo followed by a Hailey Blencowe single loaded the bases for Morgan Phillips, who sent home Gonzalez on a fielder's choice.
Golay then walked to once again load the bases. With two down, McKenna Holtz made the most of the opportunity and delivered the big hit for St. Bonaventure, clearing the bases with a double to left center and giving the Bonnies their first lead of the day, 4-3.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Rams led off the frame with a single, and moved the runner up with a sacrifice bunt. But, Rylee Hehir induced two lineouts with the tying run at second, and the 4-3 Bona lead withstood.
The win was Hehir's second of her freshman campaign, and both have come in complete-game fashion. She struck out three along the way.
Holtz's three-run double was the second of her career, and also gave the freshman her first career multi-RBI game.
Rhody out-hit the Bonnies, 7-5. Hehir and the Bona defense left eight Rams stranded on base.
Enovitch earned two of the Bonnies' hits for her seventh multi-hit game of the season.
Golay's double in the second inning was the first of her career.
St. Bonaventure and Rhode Island will battle for the series victory tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.
