Softball Opens A-10 Play Against Flyers
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure softball team (10-10) opens its Atlantic 10 Conference slate with a doubleheader at Dayton this weekend coming off a 2-2 showing at the TSU Tiger Tournament at Tennessee State University.
Sophomore pitcher Jen Sansano, who earned both wins during the TSU tournament and racked up 21 strikeouts, will take the mound against the Flyers with a 6-4 record so far this season. She also boasts a 2.87 ERA.
The Bonnies will also look to ride the hot hitting of sophomore first baseman Christine Watson who posted a team-high .444 average and went 4-for-9 last weekend in Nashville.
Both performances by Sansano and Watson against Belmont and Tennessee State earned them spots on the 2012 Tiger Classic All-Tournament Team.
The Dayton Flyers (10-13) are currently riding a two-game winning streak after beating Detroit Mercy in the second game of a double header March 20.
Senior Lauren Nacke and junior Kathleen Maloof both hit .571 and each had a double during the second game against Detroit Mercy. Maloof leads the team in runs (19) while Nacke is fourth on the team in hits (14).
The Flyers and Bonnies' first game begins at 12 p.m. followed by the second scheduled for 2 p.m.
