St. Francis hands Bonnies first lost

LORETTO, Pa. - The St. Bonaventure women's soccer team (2-1-0) lost its first game of the season, falling at St. Francis, 2-1, this afternoon.

St. Francis' Shelley Sullivan opened the scoring in the 6th minute beating St. Bonaventure sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Nelson on the right-hand side. St. Francis' Lea Brady gave the Red Flash a 2-0 lead on a break away at 37:09.

St. Bonaventure senior Lisa Nicola cut the deficit to one with a goal in the 43rd minute off a pass from sophomore Kristen Walczewski. However, the Bonnies couldn't tally a goal in the second half.

St. Francis' goalkeeper Melanie Stackman made nine saves on the day. Her efforts move the team to 1-1. Nelson fell to 2-1 on the season for St. Bonaventure, making one save on the afternoon.

St. Bonaventure returns to action this Sunday afternoon at Binghamton. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
