Bonnies Fall Short, 2-1, at Saint Joseph's in Season Finale

PHILADELPHIA – A combined three goals came in the first 18 minutes of action during St. Bonaventure's women's soccer game at Saint Joseph's on Sunday, and that would turn out to be all of the scoring. Unfortunately for the Bonnies, two of those strikes came from the Hawks as Saint Joseph's wrapped up the number one seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament with a 2-1 victory.

Dakota Mills found the net less than two minutes in when Gabrielle Vagnozzi sent a cross in from the left side. Mills finished by chipping in a loose ball in the box for the 1-0 lead.

Bona answered in the 16th minute as a pair of freshman combined for a tally. Bella May dribbled in a pass to Sydney Cerza at the top of the 18-yard box where Cerza responded by blasting in a shot to the right post for the tie.

That tie would be very short-lived, though, as Saint Joseph's responded just over two minutes later. A foul in the box set up a penalty kick for Mills and she delivered with her 16th goal of the year.

The early offense would turn out to be all that the game would see.

St. Bonaventure tried for the equalizer in the 75th minute when a shot attempt from Danielle Vis went high. In the final minute, Kylie Terwilliger fired an attempt that was blocked by the Joe's defense before it could get through.

Lauren Malcolm made nine saves in net for Bona, which completes its season at 4-14-1 overall.
