Cunningham, Van Riper Named to All-Championship Team
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Following the Bonnies first-ever victory in the Atlantic 10 Championship, Anna Cunningham and Shannon Van Riper of the St. Bonaventure women's soccer team have been name to the All-Championship Team.
"I'm really happy for Anna and Shannon," said Bonnies coach Manoj Khettry. "I thought both of them had an exceptional tournament and I'm always happy when our players are recognized for their play.
"I felt like we had a number of players perform really well, as we were the only team which didn't make it to the finals to have more than one player recognized, which again I think speaks to what the committee thought about us as a team and the quality of our players."
Cunningham, a senior forward, played and started in all 21 games for the Bonnies this season. The Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. Native led the team in goals (10), points (23), and shots on goal with 39. Cunningham was also named to the Puma/Big 4 All- Tournament Team earlier this season, while also collecting weekly honors from the Atlantic 10, and CollegeSoccer360.com.
A CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-Distict Second Team selection, Cunningham ended her four year career ranked third in school history in assists (22), sixth in points (76) and seventh in goals (27). This is Cunningham's second time being named to the Atlantic 10 All-Tournament team.
Van Riper, a junior defender, played in all 21 games and earned starts in 18 of those contests. Van Riper was also named to the Puma/ Big 4 All-Tournament Team for her efforts in the Bonnies' first-place showing.
