ST. BONAVENTURE - The women's lacrosse team defeated the LaSalle Explorers, 12-11, Sunday afternoon at McGraw Jennings Field for its season finale.
The Explorers jumped out to an early lead, with two goals from Kristen Davis and one from Kate Henwood.
Senior midfielder Sarah Swarthout scored the Bonnies' first goal at 20:33.
LaSalle added two more goals in the first half. Goals from junior midfielder Kelly Chevez, sophomore midfielder Sarah Dressler and two from sophomore attack Nicole Motondo led the Bonnies to tie the score, 5-5, at the half.
The Bonnies went up 9-6 by the 22:41 mark in the second half. LaSalle came within one goal of the Bonnies with 36 seconds remaining, making the final score 12-11.
Motondo led the Bonnies with four goals followed by Dressler with three and Chevez with two. Swarthout, senior midfielder Laura Spaulding, and freshman midfielder Megan Murphy added one goal each.
The Bonnies final regular season record improves to 10-6 and 4-3 in the Atlantic 10 while LaSalle falls to 3-13 and 0-7 in the Atlantic 10.
The Bonnies will return to action in the Atlantic 10 tournament Friday. The No. 4 seeded Bonnies will play No. 1 seeded Duquesne at 3 p.m. at Corning Memorial Stadium.
