ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team has earned recognition for success in the classroom during the past academic year.
The Bonnies were awarded by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as one of the organization's Honor Squads for the 2016-17 academic year. In order to qualify for the honor, teams must post a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Bonnies earned a 3.2 team GPA for the academic year.
In addition to the team honor, two individual members of the Bonnies women's lacrosse team were also recognized for their academic work this year. Juniors Kristine Wallace and Kerrigan Cummins were two of 402 student-athletes from 102 institutions across the nation to earn spots on the women's lacrosse Division I Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.5 or greater.
A sport studies major from Oswego, N.Y., Cummins has started 19 games and played in 31 during her three seasons in Brown and White. She has made 128 career saves in the cage with the team. Wallace, a management major from Canandaigua, N.Y., has played in 37 games including 18 starts as a defender with the Bonnies the past three seasons.
