RICHMOND, Va. -- The St. Bonaventure University women's lacrosse team rallied for 10 goals in the second half but could not overcome VCU as the Rams took the 24-15 win.
Scarlet Jaworski led the way with a game-high five goals for the Bonnies. Gabrielle Bradley contributed four of her own, while Taylor Fallon had three and Mary Maestri scored a pair. Rachel Perla found the back of the net once to round out the Bona offense.
St. Bonaventure struck first as Jaworski netted one a minute into the game. The Rams eventually took a 2-1 lead at the 25:18 mark, but Jaworski tied it up with an unassisted goal roughly 30 seconds later.
Perla, Maestri and Bradley all found the back of the net later in the half, but the two teams went into the break with the Rams holding a 12-5 lead.
The Bonnies started the second half the same way they started the first as Fallon scored the period's first goal, cutting VCU's lead to 12-6.
St. Bonaventure cut the Rams' lead to six goals five separate times in the half, but the advantage would never sink below six.
Down 19-10 at the 13:15 mark, the Bonnies ripped off three straight goals -- one each from Bradley, Fallon and Jaworski -- to bring the score to 19-13 with 11:30 left, but that was the closest the Bonnies would get as the Rams responded with two straight goals to neutralize the Bona threat.
Fallon fired a game-high nine shots and put seven on net.
Today's game at VCU ends the Bonnies' 2017 road schedule. The Brown and White will conclude its regular season with a pair of home games, starting with a 2:00 p.m. showdown with Saint Joseph's on Wednesday and a 4:00 p.m. matchup with La Salle on Friday.
