ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's lacrosse team dropped it's Atlantic 10 game to the UMass Minutewomen, 19-5, Saturday afternoon.
UMass jumped out in front early, scoring the first eight goals of the game to take a commanding lead they would never relent.
St. Bonaventure got on the board with 14 minutes remaining in the first half. Gabrielle Bradley took a long pass from Katherine Yoder and beat the UMass goalkeeper down low for the goal.
The Minutewomen would score six steaight goals to take a 14-1 lead early in the second half before Rylee Arnold found the back of the net to end the Bonnies scoring drought.
The Bonnies would hang tough in the second half scoring four goals, but it would not be enough as UMass would eventually come away with a 19-5 win.
UMass was led by Kiley Anderson who scored a team-high five goals. Abby Walker and Hannah Murphy each chipped in with three goals a piece to pace the offense.
For St. Bonavenutre, senior Scarlet Jaworski continued to power the Bonnies offensive, recording a pair of goals in the loss.
In net, Morgan Conroy was tested early and often. The junior made a number of impressive saves, facing 34 shots.
The Bonnies will be back in action next weekend as they travel to Virginia for a pair of games against Atlantic 10 foes Richmond and VCU April 21 and 23.
