Jaworski Leads Bonnies to First Conference Victory

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's lacrosse team earned its first Atlantic 10 conference win of the season Thursday evening, defeating the Duquesne Dukes, 13-11.

The Dukes jumped on the board early in the first half but Scarlet Jaworksi answered with her own goal to tie the game at one.

Following a pair of Duquesne goals, Rachel Perla and Rylee Arnold each scored a goal to tie game at three midway through the first half.

From that point, the Bonnies strung together five straight goals to push their lead to 8-3. The offensive spirtwas led Jaworksi, Gabrielle Bradley, Olivia MacDonald and Taylor Fallon.

After a Dukes goal, Fallon found the back of the net to extend the lead, 9-4, heading into halftime.

Duquesne came out in the second half swinging as they scored four straight goals to cut the Bonnies lead to, 9-8.

Rylee Arnold and Maddison Appel rallied right away scoring two straight goals to give the Bonnies a three goal edge halfway through the second.

The Dukes had one last push in them as they answered for three goals in a row to tie the game with eight minutes remaining.

St. Bonaventure would answer right back as MacDonald and Jaworski capitalized on their opportunities give the Bonnies a 13-11 lead.

Duquesne put the pressure on late, but the Bonnies defense was up to the challenge shutting Duquense out for the final 7:46 of the game to secure their first conference victory.

Jaworksi Powered the Bonnies offense scoring  four goals. Fallon, Arnold, MacDonald each chipped in two goals.  

In net, goalie Morgan Conroy made 17 saves, with nine of them coming in the second half.

Up next, the Bonnies will host Massachusetts on Saturday, April 15. Face off is set for 12:15 p.m. at the Marra Athletics Fields Complex.
