Stauffer, Maestri Lead @BonniesLax To 18-13 Win Over Siena

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – LeighAnn Stauffer and Mary Maestri each scored four goals to lead St. Bonaventure to an 18-13 win over Siena Friday afternoon at the Marra Athletics Complex.

Playing their first home game of the 2017 season, the Bonnies never trailed as they posted their top offensive game of the young season.

Scarlet Jaworski opened the scoring and Stauffer added two more to give the Bonnies an early 3-0 lead.

It was a 7-4 St. Bonaventure edge late in the first half when Siena scored three straight times to tie the score. Maestri beat Saints goalie Sammy Horton with 1:35 left in the opening half and St. Bonaventure took an 8-7 lead into halftime.

The Bonnies led 9-8 early in the second half when Rachel Perla, Rylee Arnold and Taylor Fallon scored in a span of less than two minutes to push the score to 12-8.

Following a Siena goal, the Bonnies again scored three unanswered goals to open their largest lead of the afternoon at 15-9 with 15:55 remaining.

Fallon and Arnold both scored three goals, while Jaworski tallied two goals. Perla and Abby Lagoner scored one goal apiece. Stauffer handed out three assists while Fallon was credited with two helpers.

Goalie Morgan Conroy made 10 saves to pace St. Bonaventure's defense.

"We are very proud of the performance today of our program" Coach Rosiek said. "We have been continuously reminding the team about the importance of finishing our opportunities, and today we did exactly that."

With the win, St. Bonaventure improved to 2-4, while Siena dropped to 1-5.

The second-year head coach pointed to the teams effort as a big factor in today's game.

"The girls played as a unit for all 60 minutes, and we believe we can play like this every game," she said. "We are looking forward to continuing on with this momentum into Sunday against Robert Morris."

St. Bonaventure will remain at home this weekend to host Robert Morris on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
