Alfred, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team fell to 0-6 after suffering a 12-5 loss to Iona College Sunday afternoon at Yunevich Stadium.
Mikayla Place scored her eighth goal of the year, evening the score up at 1-1 early in the first half. Iona would then take a 6-1 lead before senior Lily Timlin scored back-to-back goals to make it a 6-3 game late in the first half. The Bonnies entered the break down 7-3 while being outshot 24-13 by Iona.
The Gaels would score the first goal of the second half, but a 13-minute scoring drought ensued before Mary Maestri scored to cut the Bonnies deficit to 8-4.
Maestri's goal could not turn things around for the Brown and White, however, as Iona poured on four more goals to pull ahead 12-4. Timlin would add her third goal of the day for the Bonnies, scoring with two minutes left. It would prove to be the final goal of the game.
Up next, St. Bonaventure hits the road to take on Colgate on Tuesday, the 25th at 4 pm.
