Duquesne Hands Bona Defeat in Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH - Duquesne (9-4, 2-1 Atlantic 10) scored eight of the game's first nine goals to take control early, with Jenna Barber, Danielle Drabin and Erin Thomas each scoring twice for St. Bonaventure (2-5, 0-3) in a 14-10 loss to the Dukes.
The Dukes started early and never looked back, building an 8-1 lead - broken only by Thomas' unassisted score - fewer than 10 minutes into the game.
Drabin went to goal alone for consecutive goals that pulled SBU to within five, 8-3, before Duquesne responded with another run that yielded a 12-4 cushion at the break.
The Dukes powered to their sixth win in seven games with five- and four-goal runs in the second half. The Bonnies - behind goals from Mackenzie Jordan, Barber and Lauren Michaels - netted three unanswered tallies during a 2:33 stretch late in the game, but it wasn't enough to keep SBU from its fifth straight setback.
St. Bonaventure hosts Bucknell at McGraw-Jennings Field at 3 p.m. on April 10.
