Molly Hastrich Joins Lacrosse Staff
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — After four successful years as an attacker for St. Bonaventure, Molly Hastrich will join the coaching ranks as a volunteer assistant on the Bonnies' staff, lacrosse head coach Christy Malone announced on Wednesday.
In addition to administrative responsibilities, Hastrich will assist with practices and game-day preparation.
During her playing career, Hastrich was a team leader for the Brown and White, as she appeared and started in 62 games throughout her four years. Hastrich is the fourth all-time leading scorer (181 points) for the Bonnies and was an Atlantic 10 First Team All-Conference and Academic All-Conference selection team following her junior and senior seasons.
"I know this team and what they are capable of," said Hastrich. "I am very excited for our A-10 games. I know what to expect from A-10 teams and what we need to do to prepare. The games will mean just as much to as they did when I was a player."
The Horseheads, N.Y. native finished her career with 138 goals and 43 assists.
"My goal for this year is to help the team maintain a high level of intensity and get to the A-10 Championship. The last time St. Bonaventure lacrosse went to A-10s was my freshman year and I want the team to know how good it feels when hard work pays off. Specifically, I hope to assist the team in making adjustments during the game when needed and staying positive. I plan to push them to play hard each minute and to play with composure."
Hastrich graduated in May 2009 with a bachelor's degree in Accounting, and will complete a master's degree in Business Administration in the fall of 2010.
