Years at St. Bonaventure: Fourth Season
Courtney Mattingly enters her fourth season as an assistant coach at St. Bonaventure.

The Bona graduate has developed into one of the rising young assistants throughout women's college basketball thanks to tireless efforts on the court and on the recruiting trail. Her experience as a former player in the Brown and White has proved to be an invaluable asset for head coach Jim Crowley's staff. Mattingly serves as the team's recruiting coordinator and shares multiple responsibilities within the program, including player development, scouting, practice and game preparation as well as working with the team's guards. During Mattingly's tenure on the Bonnies' bench, she has aided in the growth of numerous guards in the Bona backcourt. Under her guidance, senior Priscilla Edwards has ascended into one of the top backcourt players in the conference and has improved yearly in every statistical category on the stat sheet. Edwards is primed to return to the floor this season after missing the 2006-07 campaign due to injury. The maturation of shooting guard Katelyn Murray was evident throughout an award-winning junior campaign. Following two years of hard work with Mattingly, Murray averaged a career-best 10.4 points per game, while starting all 30 contests in the backcourt. The Harrisburg, Pa. product ranked as one of the best three-point shooters in the Atlantic 10 and sits fifth all-time in the St. Bonaventure record books with 134 career triples. A coach with tremendous energy and enthusiasm, Mattingly returned to her alma mater after two years as an assistant coach at the Division III level. In her first coaching stop in 2004-05, she helped guide Bowdoin College (Maine) to a 26-3 record en route to a New England Small College Athletic Conference Championship and a berth in the NCAA Division III Elite Eight.

Prior to joining the Bowdoin staff, Mattingly spent one year as a graduate assistant at Ithaca College. She helped direct the Bombers to a 23-4 record, including a NCAA D-III playoff berth and the Empire 8 Conference title. During her stint at Ithaca, Mattingly also earned a master's degree in exercise and sports science. Mattingly graduated with honors from St. Bonaventure in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. The 5-foot-9 guard earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Conference second team as a junior and received Academic All-Conference honors following junior and senior seasons. During an award-winning junior campaign (2001-02), Mattingly compiled season averages of 13.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. She also served as the Bonnies' team captain as a junior and senior. The Bainbridge, N.Y. native currently ranks among the top 10 on St. Bonaventure's all-time list in points (1,256/8th), rebounds (585/7th) and assists (300/8th). She is also one of only seven players in program history to surpass 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. The Courtney Mattingly File Personal Hometown: Bainbridge, N.Y.
