@BonniesWBB Hosts George Washington On Wednesday For Battle Of Second Place

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y.  – The St. Bonaventure women's basketball team will play in its final home game on Wednesday night at the Reilly Center, as George Washington comes to town sporting the same 10-4 conference record as the Bonnies.

Last Time Out

The Bonnies led wire-to-wire to defeat George Mason on Saturday (Feb. 22), 57-53. Chelsea Bowker recorded a game-high 19 points; Hannah Little registered a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds while Katie Healy added 12 points and six boards.

St. Bonaventure is currently tied for second place in the A-10 with George Washington with a 10-4 record. Fordham, Saint Joseph's and Duquesne are close behind with 9-5 records. The Bonnies defeated Fordham on Feb. 1, 74-67 and Saint Joseph's on Feb. 5, 73-67. SBU and Duquesne split in its regular season home and home series.

The Bonnies are among just five teams in the A-10 who have reached the 20+ win mark this season.

Healy has scored in double-figures in 15 consecutive games and has scored 15 or more points in nine out of 14 conference games played.

Scouting The Colonials

George Washington enters the matchup tied with St. Bonaventure for a second place battle in the A-10.

The Colonials are on a three game winning streak after posting victories over VCU, UMass and Richmond.

GW has four players averaging double digit points, as graduate student Megan Nipe leads all players in scoring with 14.4 points per game. Sophomore Jonquel Jones is averaging a double-double per game with 13.8 points and 10.5 rebounds in 16 games played this season.

Danni Jackson (12.4 points per game) and Caira Washington (11.9 points per game) round out the players averaging double figures in points. Jackson also has a team-high 156 assists, ranking her third in the A-10. Washington is second on the Colonials in rebounding with 9.1 per game and has the team-lead in blocked shots with 32.

This season, George Washington holds a +9.3 margin in scoring over its opponents and a +6.3 edge in rebounding. The team is shooting 43% from the field this season.


Previous Meeting

George Washington won last season's meeting 57-52 in Washington on February 24, 2013. Katie Healy registered a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards in the setback for the Brown and White.

Wednesday night's game will be the 39th meeting between the Bonnies and Colonials. GW leads the all-time series 33-5, however, SBU has won three out of the last five dating back to the 2009 season.

Up Next

St. Bonaventure will head to Philadelphia to take on La Salle on Saturday, March 1st in its final regular season contest before heading to the Atlantic 10 Tournament in Richmond, Va. the following week. Saturday's meeting against La Salle will be the second between the two teams this season, with SBU winning the first meeting 58-35 on Jan. 15.
