ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure women's basketball coach Jim Crowley announced on Wednesday the promotion of Tiara Johnson to Assistant Coach.
Tiara has spent the last three years serving as the program's Director of Basketball Operations where she oversaw film exchange, travel and meal arrangements, managers, camps and the overall day-to-day operations of the program.
"We are thrilled to have Tiara moving into an assistant position on our staff. She has done an outstanding job as our Director of Operations and I know she will thrive as an on the floor assistant. Tiara knows our program inside and out. She knows our student-athletes and what they need to do to be successful. She knows the way we play and do things and will be a great instructor and ambassador for us."
Prior to taking the D.O.B.O. position, Johnson spent three seasons as a player for the Brown and White. After transferring in from North Central Missouri College, Tiara started 28 games as a Junior in the 2007-08 season. She averaged 5.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game and ended up finishing second on the team in rebounds, assists and field goal percentage (41.2).
The Kansas City, Mo. Native would sit out her senior season with a knee injury but would return for the 2009-10 season. She would see limited action that year however and become a vocal and emotional leader for the program.
Tiara graduated from St. Bonaventure in 2009 with a major in Marketing and minor in Sports Management. "I am excited!" Johnson said. "I look forward to continuing the tradition of a program that I played for and also have been a part of these last three seasons."
