Bonnies lose weekend match at Duquesne
SAINT BONAVENTURE – The St. Bonaventure men's tennis lost their match at Atlantic 10 Conference rival Duquesne 6-1 last Saturday.
The Bonnies earned their only point in the match with two doubles match victories. Junior Oscar Yanez and Luis Guevara defeated Duquesne's Aram Abgaryan and Ben Klaas 8-4 and sophomores Elliot Fanshel and Javier Ortiz triumphed 9-8 in a tiebreaker over the Dukes' Pete Carpenter and Max Rubin. However, freshmen Miguel Suarez and Trevor Haskell lost their match 8-2 to Duquesne's Rich Robbie and Alex Aleman 8-2 and the team lost all six singles matches to the Dukes.
Following last weekend's doubles matches, the teams of Yanez and Guevara and Fanshel and Ortiz are both on a two-match winning streak.
The Bonnies will host two contests this weekend at the St. Bonaventure Indoor tennis courts. On Saturday, the team will take on Fordham at 4 p.m. in their first A-10 home match of the season. On Sunday, the Brown and White will face Cleveland State at 1 p.m.
