Bruno, Relay Teams Kick Off 2018 Atlantic 10 Men's Swimming and Diving Championships

GENEVA, Ohio – Freshman Michael Bruno won the consolation final of 1-meter dive and the 800-freestyle relay team finished in sixth place as the St. Bonaventure men's swimming and diving team began the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championships Wednesday at the SPIRE Institute.

In the preliminary round of the 1-meter dive, Bruno scored a 208.65. In the consolation round Bruno registered a score of 240.70.

The team of David Shakhnazarov, Tjaard Krusch, John Pietrucha and Nick Burdo swam a time of 6:37.66, earning a sixth-place finish.

The first race of the day for the men's swimming team was the 200-medley relay. The group of Krusch, Jordan Powers, Logan Hellwig and Matt Taccard clocked in at 1:30.52 to finish in eighth place.

After the opening day of action, the Bonnies stand in seventh place overall with 57 team points. George Washington is first with 118 team points, La Salle second with 104 and UMass third with 88. George Mason (81), Saint Louis (69) and Fordham (58) are fourth through sixth while Davidson (52) is eighth. 

Competition resumes Thursday morning with prelims at 10 a.m.
