@BonniesMSwim Bolsters 2013-14 Roster With Nine Commitments
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure men's swimming and diving team has added nine commitments who will join the defending Atlantic 10 champions in the fall, head coach Sean McNamee announced Friday.
The group consists of seven swimmers and two divers, with their hometowns ranging from as far west as Arizona to as far south as Florida. Below is more information on each new member of the team.
Hometown: Gilbert, Ariz.
High School: Dobson
High School: As a senior was the state champion in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley … earned a plethora of awards in his final season, including All-Arizona First Team, Mesa City Swimmer of the Year and All-Tribune First Team … as a junior he finished ninth in the state final in the 100-yard freestyle and seventh in the 200 IM … named Mesa City Swimmer of the Year … finished eighth in the 200 IM as a sophomore in the state final, and 15th as a freshman … coached by David Larson … named Male Athlete of the Year at Rhodes Junior High as a freshman where he also lettered in cross country and track as a freshman.
Personal: Born on Oct. 22, 1995, in Mequon, Wisc. … parents are Michael White, Sr. and Laura Hansbury … has one younger sibling, Mya … also swims club for the Arizona Gold … has a goal of qualifying for the Olympic Trials in 2016 and making the team … lists Muhammad Ali as his role model … avid movie watcher … student council member during his junior year … plans to major in business and marketing.

High School: A breaststroke specialist who was named by USA Swimming as a Scholastic All-American in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke as a senior … was also an All-American nominee in the 100-yard breaststroke … finished as the state runner-up in the both the 100- and 200-yard breast as a senior … his 57.69 time in the 100 butterfly was just one second off the 2013 Atlantic 10 Championship average (56.65) … was named to the All-State Second Team as a senior … team captain … set two school freestyle relay records in his final year … was also the team captain as a junior … named the Most Outstanding Freshman during his first year.

High School: Section VI Class A Champion in the 200-yard freestyle relay as a senior … also placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke in the same meet … named the team's Most Outstanding Swimmer in his final season … led the squad to a 12-1 record … posted season-best times in the 100 breast (1:02.76), 200 individual medley (2:07.69) and 50 free (22.85 – relay split) … as a junior he claimed the 100-yard breaststroke and 200 medley relay titles at the state final … also lettered in track and field as a freshman.

High School: Was home schooled, but swam at the SPIRE Institute, an academy which trains student-athletes and is home to the Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championships … as a senior he posted season-best times in the 100-yard breast stroke (57.69), 200 breast (2:06.88), 200-yard individual medley (1:56.93), 100-yard butterfly (56.16) and 100-yard backstroke (55.05) … swam all four years of high school … coached by Todd Clark and Jim Bocci.

High School: As a senior he posted season-best times in three freestyle events: the 100-yard (50.48), the 200-yard (1:48.08) and the 500-yard (4:46.54) … swam his portion of the 400-yard freestyle relay in 49.78 … touched in 2:03.98 in the 200-yard individual medley … on average from his freshman year to his senior year he lowered his 500-yard freestyle time by more than 26 seconds per year … also lettered in cross country and track and field all four years.
Personal: Born on Jan. 18, 1995 in Washington, D.C. … son of Julie and Keith … has one younger sibling, Kerry … made honor roll in high school for nine marking periods … volunteered at the Williamsville Public Library … father swam at Niagara … can run a sub 5-minute mile (4:44) … has a goal of making the Olympic Trials in 2016 … intends to major in finance.

High School: A freestyle specialist who posted season-best times as a senior in the 50-yard free (24.28), 100 free (53.43), 200 free (2:05.23) and 500 free (5:44.09) … also had a season-best time of 1:03.05 in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley (2:23.98) … served as the team captain his senior year and was a scholar athlete … significantly lowered his times in each event every year from his freshman through his senior campaign … has also swam for the Tri Town Aquatic Club for the last four years.
