Bona men hold second place after day two of A-10 Championships
BUFFALO, N.Y. - After the second day of the Atlantic 10 Championships, the men's swimming and diving team remains tied for second place with Duquesne University. With 191 points the team now sits 123 points behind defending champion Massachusetts with just two days remaining at the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships inside the Flickinger Center.
The team held tight to its second place seat, with juniors Kevin Murphy (1:53.36) earning a bronze medal, and Chris Baker (1:53.88) finishing sixth in the 200-yard IM.
In the 500-yard freestyle, freshman Ethan Rowan earned the Brown and White 14 points with his fifth-place finish, posting a time of 4:36.96. Freshman Mike Dansa and sophomore Elias Homerin swam the consolation round, taking 11th and 14th place, respectively. Dansa touched in at 4:40.29 while Homerin posted a time of 4:42.99.
Junior David Kundzik swam a 20.75 in the 50-yard freestyle, taking fourth place and earning the Bonnies 15 points. Junior Jared Robinson notched a time of 21.08 in the same event, taking 14th in the consolation round.
The team finished off the night with a fourth place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Kundzik, Robinson, sophomore Francisco Nieves and freshman Nathan Destree swam for a combined time of 1:22.91.
The Championships will continue Friday with preliminaries beginning at 10:30 a.m. and finals at 6:30 p.m.
