Bonnies take third at Zippy Invitational

 

AKRON, Ohio -The men's swimming and diving team ended the Zippy Invitational in third place overall.  The team earned 1212.5 total points, falling 366 points short of first place team Xavier and 115 points short of runner-up University of Buffalo.

Senior Marius Michalik provided a solid effort taking first place in the ‘A' final of the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:06.06.  Sophomores Mike Dansa and Ilya Nenashev also helped out the Brown and White. Dansa placed fourth in the ‘A' final posting a time of 2:10.58 while Nenashev placed first in the ‘B' final of the 200 breast with a time of 2:10.39.

 In the 200-yard butterfly ‘A' finals sophomore Yi Lui took second, touching the wall at 1:54.83.

Freshmen Ethan Rowan and Elias Homerin earned points for the Bonnies placing fourth and ninth consecutively in the 1650-yard freestyle.  Rowan posted a time of 16:29.05 while Homerin touched the wall at 16:42.86.

Junior David Kundzik picked up a fourth place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.82, earning 26 points for the team.

In relay action, the 400-yard freestyle relay team of juniors Chris Baker, Jared Robinson and Kundzik and sophomore Mike Dansa took fifth place with a combined time of 3:08.60.

The Bonnies will be back in action on Dec. 18 as they take on Canisius at the Reilly Center Pool.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
