The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team is set to host the Davidson Wildcats in its home Atlantic 10 opener on Saturday, Oct.7 at 3:00 p.m. at the Marra Athletics Complex. The Bonnies are looking to rebound from a 3-2 loss in their Atlantic 10 debut against Rhode Island.
Davidson enters Saturday's contest with an overall record of 5-4-1 and 0-2 in the Atlantic 10. The Wildcats are currently on a four game losing streak with their most recent defeat being a 4-1 loss against VCU on Wednesday. Davidson ranks tied for third in the Atlantic 10 in goals per game with 1.67 and is fifth in goals allowed with 11. Davidson is led by junior Coleman Richards and sophomore Ned Morrissett, who each have three goals on the season.
Saturday marks just the fourth meeting between the two teams. St. Bonaventure and Davidson last met just a year ago. The Bonnies were victorious on the road, defeating the Wildcats 3-2. Davidson leads the all-time series over St. Bonaventure with a record of 2-1.
Junior goalkeeper Luke Iacobellis is in the top three among A-10 goalkeepers in multiple categories. The Toronto, Ontario native leads the A-10 in saves (54), ranks second in saves per game (5.40), and is tied for third in shutouts (3). Forward Kosi Nwafornso is tied for seventh in shots per game with 2.78 and is tied for eighth in goals with four on the season.
HOME SWEET HOME
The Bonnies return home after four straight games on the road. The Brown and White finished 1-2-1 during those four games. Saturday is the Bonnies first home game since Sept. 16 when they battled Hartwick. St. Bonaventure will play two straight home games, the other being Fordham on Wednesday before heading back on the road Saturday, Oct. 14 against Dayton.
The St. Bonaventure men's soccer team will be home again Wednesday, Oct. 11 when Fordham visits the Marra Athletics Complex. The match is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
