Men's Soccer Picked to Finish 15th

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – College Cup runner-up Charlotte was picked to capture the 2012 Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Soccer Championship, in voting conducted among the league's 16 head coaches. Two-time defending A-10 Champion Xavier and league newcomer VCU round out the top three, respectively.

The Bonnies finished last season with a 4-12-3 record, going 0-7-2 in A-10 play. As a team the Bonnies scored 15 goals last season. This young team would see twelve games decided by one goal or lessThey return 100% of their scoring to this season's roster. James Reed led the way for the Brown and White scoring five goals. Former Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team member and A-10 honorable mention from 2010, Emmmett O'Connor led the team with six assists. Brad Vanino, who was also named to the 2010 A-10 All-Rookie team, returns as well.

Charlotte, Xavier and VCU are followed by Saint Louis (fourth), Fordham (fifth) and George Washington (sixth). Newcomer Butler and Dayton are tied for seventh, while Duquesne is ninth, Dayton is 10th and Temple is 11th. Rhode Island, which has claimed a league-best six Championship titles is 12th in the predicted order of finish, followed by Massachusetts (13th), Richmond (14th), St. Bonaventure (15th) and Saint Joseph's (16th).

The newly expanded eight-team A-10 Men's Soccer Championship will be held Nov. 8-11 at Charlotte's Transamerica Field. The 49ers will host the Championship for the second time in three years and third time overall since joining the Atlantic 10 during the 2005-06 academic year.
