The First Class: Bonnies Men's Lacrosse Roster Announced

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - On March 21, 2017, St. Bonaventure University's Department of Athletics announced men's lacrosse would return to the Bonnies as an NCAA Division I sport.

Randy Mearns was appointed head coach of the fledgling program June 20, 2017 and immediately set to work on building the first Bonnies roster.

Over the past year, Mearns and his staff have scoured the country in search of the first class of Bonnies in the rebirth of the program. With the start of the 2018-19 academic year, 34 student-athletes are on campus who will make up the new squad.

"It's been a journey," Mearns said. "We started with a clean slate and now, a little over 425 days down the road, we have 34 young men on-campus. We tried to find the right fit kids - academically, socially and athletically. We feel like we have a phenomenal class and we are excited to get rolling. After a long time on the drawing board, it is real now and we couldn't be more ready to put the work in to make St. Bonaventure and the community proud of our program."
